You'll learn about the Refuge and have fun too.
For all walks and events sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
Trails on the Carty unit are not improved and may be rocky or steep.
Bring binoculars and scopes.

NIGHT WALK!

Ever wonder what wild things happen on Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge after the gates close? This is your special chance to hike with Refuge staff to encounter the sounds of the Refuge after hours! Be prepared to journey off the beaten path!

Take a night-time natural history walk on the Refuge with Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge staff Eric Anderson.

Walk wil be on the Carty Unit at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge -

Time: Meet at the Carty Unit at 6:00 pm

Sherry and Arden Hagen of the Vancouver Audubon Society will discuss birding basics such as the best binoculars for beginners, how to choose a bird identification book, and how to identify birds in the field using characteristics like markings, size, and behavior. They will give a slide presentation of common birds for our area and describe their characteristics. If you're a beginning birder or a seasoned expert this presentation will be interesting and fun.
